Back in April, we spent Earth Day at the two eco fairs: one at Park Place and another at the Broadway Tech Centre.

We were thrilled to see that so many office tenants were recycling metals and electronics. incorrect disposal can cause leeching into our water and soil resulting in unnecessary pollution and damage to the earth. From copiers to computers, electronics are often overlooked when deciding what goes into recycling and what goes into the trash.

That’s why these types of events are so important, so we can educate people on simple things they can to make a difference. At Happy Stan’s Recycling, we provide services that take in those unused systems and recycle them rather than letting them end up in landfill or scattered throughout our planet.

We’re thrilled to be featured on Call2Recycle this past week! Founded in 1994, Call2Recycle—North America’s first and largest battery stewardship program—is a non-profit organization that collects and recycles batteries at no cost for municipalities, businesses and consumers. Since 1996, Call2Recycle has diverted more than 45 million kilograms (100 million pounds) of batteries and cellphones from the solid waste stream and established over 30,000 collection sites throughout Canada and the U.S. It is the first program of its kind to receive the Responsible Recycling Practices Standard (R2) certification.
Jamie Kaminski, General Manager of Happy Stan’s Recycling, shared why recycling is so important to our family, and how our services has helped make Greater Vancouver a greater place for over 25 years. The Call2Recycle team also called us pioneers in waste management, and highlighted how we were early adopters of battery recycling. Just last year alone, we recycled more than 14,388 lbs of batteries through the Call2Recycle program!
